St. Joseph-Ogden High School will be looking for a new assistant principal and activities director come June.
Brady Smith submitted his letter of resignation, effective at the conclusion of the 2017-2018 school year to the Board of Education on Monday night.
Smith, who has been with the district for over a decade, said he was grateful for his time at the school.
“These experiences have lead to a new opportunity for me,” Smith said.
Smith previously served as a physical education teacher, a drivers ed teacher and dean before serving as assistant principal and activities director.
Smith will be going to work for Loman-Ray Insurance.
“I am looking forward to this new challenge while continuing the relationships that have been built with those connected to St. Joseph-Ogden High School that are so important to myself and my family,” he said.
Smith said he wanted to thank the board members, administrators, teachers and staff that he has worked with throughout his career at SJO.
“As St. Joseph Community members with children in the district, our family will continue to support the efforts of St. Joseph-Ogden High School as it continues to pursue excellence,” he said.
Superintendent Brian Brooks the school will be replacing Smith but the position may change in the future.
“We are looking at potentially changing it a little bit and looking into making it a dean and AD position,” Brooks said.
Brooks said he and Principal Gary Page would take over some of the administrative work that Smith currently does and the new position would focus on helping the guidance counselor with testing and other tasks.
“We will open it up in a few weeks after we get together and see what we want to do,” Brooks said.
